well, the point behind the ads that they are annoying and u want to get rid of it, especially because ANET says, no ads for programs or websites.
to point 3: i read the memory and i found a method to get the logged in charname.
hmm point 2 and 4 make me think alot.
to point 5: if u use that method, if the client app holds the generating key code as well, i make u a keygen just like that. u just generate a key and patch the exe to accept it.
the core functions are still to do. which is the memory search and the thread coding, rest is finished. the registering part would be last.

hmm all those ideas do not prevent sharing the keys. i reckon i will need a dedicated server of some sort, to work with the registration online. hmm still thinking...

Thats the point of generating a key on the client app, he PM you in game, give you the key the program gave you, you put that key into a program only you have, it return a matching key. This you give to the player and he enter that key. It will only work once, so he cannot share it with others. Pretty straight forward. No online registration, nothing.

the key has to be locked to the machine though, a simple timestamp wouldnt work. there has to be a check, if the key is valid for this machien only, otherwise the .exe is unlocked and just being copied to other computers u see.

Nimrod, when you unlock the exe you don't alter the exe or create a file in your program path that can easily be broker. You write an entry in the registry that will not easily be found, another somewhere on the drive also hard to find. Your exe will look for these hidden entries to see if it has been unlocked. If the guy reload his computer he will have to reactivate his program.
It is possible in some way to retrieve a unique value from the processor and drive. That is what Microsoft does with activating Windows. If the Drive and Processor change, you have to get a new version of Windows.
So, if you simply copy the EXE and give it to your buddy it will not work. If fact you want them to give it away, because that is free advertisement, but without those hidden files they have to activate the program.

Mr Xen, there are a program that you can use to run multiple Guild wars on 1 machine. Bobby and I spoke about it the other day, he knows what it is called, I can't remember now.
